Andrew Bowley, Sustainability Governance Officer, Nomura
Andrew is responsible for the international sustainability strategy of the Nomura group, reporting to Nomura’s Group Sustainability Officer.
In this role Andrew provides leadership to group sustainability related growth opportunities, connecting regions and divisions to support the launch of new businesses.
Andrew also provides governance of sustainability matters, addressing Nomura’s ESG credentials, ratings and UN commitments such as the Principles for Responsible Banking, and Net Zero Banking Alliance. The role assumes leadership in ensuring that Nomura mitigates reputational and greenwashing risks, and complies with regional ESG regulations.
Previously, Andrew was responsible for support of Nomura’s Wholesale Division governance including executive committee, board level oversight of investments and partnerships, and support for oversight of Instinet, a Nomura company, as Non Executive Director. In this role, Andrew founded Nomura’s Wholesale Sustainability Forum, setting the business strategy and leading initiatives to adapt the business to the developments of Sustainable Finance and the challenges and opportunities of climate change.
Andrew remains an NED at Instinet. Across a career in financial services spanning 35 years, Andrew has held front office business development and management roles across equity and fixed income asset classes, and held external advisory roles.
