Well-designed carbon markets can accelerate decarbonization, foster clean energy investment, and support a just transition for developing nations. However, these markets face hurdles
around credibility and effectiveness, underling the urgent need for solutions.
There are two key challenges to address. The first being the importance of Carbon Verification to drive investment in the right clean energy, as discussed in the June 2024 Newsletter of ISO/TC
68 (pgs. 9-10) but the second, and arguably just as critical requirement, is to ensure this information is readily available and accessible in the Capital Markets ecosystem. The combined expertise of ISO standards and the FIX Trading Protocol offers a unique solution to these challenges.
