Dr. Sam Priyadarshi is a senior leader with 25 years investment experience leading global teams for portfolio management, risk management, and trading. He has deep knowledge of capital
markets, global regulations, portfolio & trading systems and is a thought leader in derivatives & fixed income market structure and related technology. He is frequently consulted on market
structure, market reforms, trading venues, central clearing, CCP resiliency, new products, bank capital regulations, trade automation, price transparency, and market liquidity. He serves as Non-Executive Director on the Bloomberg BSBY Oversight Committee and the CME Term SOFR Oversight Committee. He is an Advisor to Wave Labs Limited, a fixed income trading platform.
Dr. Priyadarshi was Principal, and Global Head of Portfolio Risk and Derivatives at Vanguard from 2009 to 2022. He led a global team responsible for market risk management of active fixed income funds totaling over $190 billion and for the trading of over $1.2 trillion annually in cash and derivatives instruments. He was chair of the Technology Steering Committee, member of the Market Structure Committee and the LIBOR Steering Committee.
Previously, he worked at the Lincoln Financial Group for 12 years, where he was Vice President, Derivatives and was responsible for hedging insurance products and portfolios. He was a member of Lincoln’s Derivatives Committee, Insurance General Account Assets Committee, and Alternative Investments Screening Committee.
Dr. Priyadarshi holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi. He holds a MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and has a Ph.D. in finance from Virginia Tech. He speaks often at several industry conferences, and has guest lectured at many universities. He is an active participant in many industry panels and working groups related to derivatives and fixed income markets. He was a member of CFTC’s Market Risk Advisory Committee and the Advisory Board of UCLA Anderson School MFE program.
